History of 20th CENTURY fOX
The 20th century fox was formed in 1935 when Twentieth Century Pictures merged with Fox FIlm Corporation. Later the company was founded by William fox, a New York City exhibitor who had started making films in 1904, which were produced in 1913. In 1915 Fox moved his studio to Los Angeles. In 1027 the company was using German sound-on-film process( which worked by trying to run a film strip with a soundtrack traced along its edge by a beam of light) www.filmportal.de. Since they had to borrow so much money to finance the movies, the Great Depression caused William fox to close his company. But later the company was re-founded by Joseph schneck and Darryl F. Zanuck. In 1933 Darryl quit as head of production at Warner Brothers. The 2 companies merged ( Fox Film Corporation & Warner Brothers Studio) in 1935 which created 20th Century Fox.
In 1935 20th century fox introduced CinemaScope. (This is the process by making a picture projected on screen 2 ½ times as wide as it is high) The company's first wide-screen featured film, The Robe was the trendsetter for the use of wide screens in motion-picture theatres.
